About Liga Portugal 2Liga Portugal 2 (pronounced in Portuguese: [ˈliɣɐ puɾtuˈɣal dojʃ]), also referred to as the Portuguese Second Division, is the second-highest tier in the Portuguese football league system. At the end of each season, the top two teams are promoted to the top-tier Primeira Liga, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the third tier. Starting from the 2021–22 season, relegated teams no longer join what would become the fourth-tier Portuguese league; instead, they move to the newly established third-tier competition called Liga 3.
