Endrick, the 19-year-old Brazilian striker currently on loan at Lyon from Real Madrid, recently gave an exclusive interview, in which he stated that Cristiano Ronaldo is his biggest idol in football.

Q: Who is your idol in football? Is it Romário? Your playing style is quite similar to his.
Endrick:
“No, Cristiano Ronaldo is number one. Maybe it's because I never got to watch Romário play live. What I admire most about Ronaldo is that at 40 years old, he still works harder than anyone else. He's approaching retirement, but he still has the ability to play for many more years. I hope so, anyway.”
Q: At 19, Cristiano Ronaldo was just a promising youngster, more focused on dribbling past opponents. You, on the other hand, seem much more mature.
Endrick:
“My life in Brazil was very turbulent, with enormous pressure around me and, unfortunately, a host of social issues. Dealing with all that makes you mature quickly. I love the comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo; he also had a tough childhood. He's an incomparable player who has always worked extremely hard. I especially admire the image of him fighting every day to be the best.”
Q: Do you hope to face him in the upcoming World Cup?
Endrick:
"Ah, Cristiano Ronaldo... that would be amazing. I hope we have that match, and that we win. (Laughs)"
