Portugal player Francisco Conceição has become the latest victim of online abuse on social media💀 His most recent post has received more than 24,000 flood of comments, with numerous fans demanding that he "show respect to Cristiano Ronaldo and pass the ball to him"…

The controversy arose when a journalist asked whether he actively looked for Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch to supply passes to him. He responded: “No one can match Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to scoring goals, but we do not feel obligated or required to give him the ball. I will pass to whichever teammate makes better runs and occupies the best positions. He is here to contribute just like every other player in the squad.”

The flood of comments under Conceição’s social media post are shown below:

“Take a page from Argentina’s players who fight for their idol. You have won nothing in football and never made a decisive impact in crucial matches, hahaha. Once Cristiano Ronaldo retires, this national team will achieve absolutely nothing.”

“What do you mean you have no obligation to pass to Cristiano Ronaldo??? Who do you think you are, mate???”

“I respect Cristiano Ronaldo. Without him, Portugal would be nothing.”

“Show respect to your leader, kid.”

“You were only four years old when Cristiano Ronaldo the GOAT claimed his first Ballon d’Or back in 2008😅 Calm yourself down.”

“You are insignificant compared to Cristiano Ronaldo — pass the ball to him!”

“Respect Cristiano Ronaldo. If it were not for him, nobody would pay attention to Portugal or tune in to any of the national team’s fixtures. Time and time again he dragged this side back from the brink of defeat, long before any of you rose to fame.”

“Cristiano Ronaldo ranks among the greatest players of all time, yet you claim you do not need to go out of your way for him. That is outright disrespect toward Portugal’s greatest footballer in history.”
